What is Eco-Chula?
Eco-Chula is the partnership venture of 4 young entrepreneurs who aim to provide a sustainable and clean cooking solution for Bangladesh. By combining the production and selling of an improved cook stove, compressed biogas, and the by-product of biogas- organic fertilizer, Eco-Chula will offer a complete end to end solution for IAP which includes strong strategic partnerships, zone based distribution models, training and educating the local community, and will involve the local community in its business model by creating job opportunities for them in various steps of its productions and operations process.
How will it change the world?
Eco-Chula’s business model focuses on affordability, sustainability and engagement of the local community. Eco-Chula’s efficient business model makes its cookstove and biogas cylinder combo easily available at an affordable price of $15 without compromising quality.
Eco-Chula will target Bangladesh one district at a time. Its first stove factory will be situated in the capital city Dhaka and more will be built later in strategic geographic locations for ease of stove distribution. The stoves will be made using components bought from local vendors and sold to its target customers in Bangladesh as well as international buyers through Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves (GACC). The option of paying for the stove on an installment basis will be offered to the local citizens. A biogas plant will be constructed in each district, strategically positioned for ease of biogas cylinder distribution. Waste materials needed for the biogas production will be procured from local farmhouses. The compressed biogas cylinders will be supplied from the appointed warehouses in each district and will be sold at full price. There will be excess biogas produced which will be sold to potential buyers at a slightly higher price. Organic fertilizer, the by-product of biogas production, will be sold to potential buyers and will provide an extra source of revenue for Eco-Chula.
Eco-Chula will also be creating a source of employment for the local community in its factories and warehouses.
